International Youth Exchange Programme
Call for Application

The Youth Association of Zambia (YAZ) an organization involved in enhancing youth development in Zambia in areas of Youth Exchange Programmes, International Workcamps, HIV/AIDS prevention, Democracy and Good Governance, Leadership Training, Youth Business Development and provision of seed Money, Long and Short term volunteer Placements among other programmes.

Since 1991 YAZ has been implementing Youth exchange programmes with different countries abroad.

YAZ is inviting application for participation in an International Youth Exchange programme under the Theme “HIV/AIDS Prevention and Entrepreneurship”. The duration for the exchange programme for six months, 3 months in Zambia and 3 months in Sweden.

Qualifications

ü Grade 12 certificate. Higher qualification and experience in social or community work is added advantage
ü Must posses a good command of English both written and Spoken
ü Must be between 21 and 26 years old as at January 2009
ü Must be ready to complete a period of six months in the exchange programme
ü Must be ready to work and live in Copperbelt, Kabwe or Lusaka for the first three months of the exchange in Zambia.

Application forms at a non refundable fee of K100,000 are available at the YAZ secretariat, Eureka House (next to Handyman’s Paradise), Freedom Way, 2nd Floor rooms 2 and 3. You can also access application form in Ndola at Copperbelt Province Youth Forum (CPYF), House number 3 Ndibu Drive or C/O Ministry of Sport, Youth and Child Development offices behind Ndola passport Office.

Join in Circuit




















JOIN IN CIRCIUT AT CHAWAMA YOUTH CENTER

On 16 July the YAZ volunteers together with one STV and one LTV conducted a Join in circuit at chawama youth center from 10 to 13 hours. The participants included some of the people who work at the youth center and some students who were invited by the youth center. The safe love tour was also there to exhibit the journey.
The stations that were there were;
Ways of transmission.
Body language.
Contraceptive and condom use.
Protection (dice of fortune)
The participants were in the age group of 15 to 20 years.

LIVINGSTONE WORK CAMPS ENDS.
The Livingstone work camp came to an end today with volunteers returning to their respective regions.
However the Rufunsa work camp is starting on the 29 of July to the 11th of August 2008.

BACKGROUND
The Youth Association of Zambia (YAZ) is a non-profit making youth organization whose objective is to improve the living standards of the youth and children id Zambia. It was founded on 12th may 1994.
YAZ provides capacity building for youth organizations and groups in organization development, strategic plans, and material development, project proposal writing and many others
The organization involves young people in the Activities implemented in order to contribute to making a difference in the communities and also contribute to personal growth and national development through work and study camps and other development activities.
OBJECTIVES
To contribute in the mitigation of HIV/AIDS and related diseases among sexually active young people and the communities through advocating for best practices on reproductive health and health environments.
To lobby and advocate for gender equality and equal opportunities between men and women in order to attain sustainable development through active participation, empowerment programs and dialogue.
To protect the economic and the civic rights of transparent, democratic and participatory decision making structures and processes at all levels of development.

Current Programmes
Livingstone Work and Study Camp (4th -17th July)
Work: Landscaping at Maramba youth center and HIV/AIDS outreach activities.
Long Term Volunteer। (LTV)
Sara is currently volunteering for a period of five months with YAZ and has the Rural Youth Children in Need (RYOCHIN) and is working with child जस्टिस

Short Term Volunteer (STV)
Linda Kramer is on a two week work placement with YAZ and is going to be working with the Join in Circuit (JIC) in various schools around Lusaka।


The safe love tour is soon implementing its project at the Agriculture and commercial show।

UPCOMMING EVENTS
Rufunsa Work and Study camp (29th July -11th August)
Work: Building of a community orphanage centre in रुफुन्सा

Mfuwe work and study camp (11th -24th August)
Work: continuation of construction of a teacher’s house at Mkhanya Community School in Mfuwe. Volunteers will be involved in study sessions on Girl child education, impact of HIV/AIDS on child education, youth participation in decision making processes.
